On Saturday we headed to Mt. Mitchell, NC to do a little birding. On the way we stopped on a little dirt patch on the side of the road to check the map. We were somewhere in the Pigsah National Forest. Out of nowhere a pair of Rose-breasted Grosebeaks popped out right in the open. That was our only definite lifer of the trip!

Then, just moments later a warbler popped out. I have been unable to get a definite ID on this guy.I"m leaning towards Tennessee, but not sure yet.

Our next stop was Ridge Junction Overlook,on the BRPK. There we were met with a nice Black-throated Greeen Warbler. About 15 minutes later the weather turned ugly. We then decided to go ahead up Mt. Mitchell. There the temp plunged to 51 degrees and it was FOGGY.

Mt. Mitchell
So we left Mt. Mitchell and found this long dirt road in the heart of the Pigsah National Forest. There we found 5 Black-throated Blue Warblers, 3 or 4 Black-throated Green Warblers, 1 Black-and -White Warbler, 1 Blue-headed Vireo, 1 Golden-crowned Kinglet, and one yet to be ID'd warbler. While none of those birds were lifers or FOYs, they were still great birds! Here's a nice male Black-throated Blue Warbler:
What a trip!!!!!!!!!
